Did you know that the first draft for both SIP and H.323 were floated around in 1995 and that both were published for the world to start bashing on in 1996? H.323 was also not used for ISDN connectivity. H.320 was designed for that. H.323 was designed purely as a IP-based video conferencing standard.<br /><br />MGCP is also widely used by cable operators, not only Cisco. In the cable specs, they refer to is by a different name, but it's MGCP.<br /><br />You say SIP is "lighter" but "more feature rich" than H.323?
